Remodeling Your Bathroom

June 02, 2011 By: Jim Barre Category: Bathroom Remodeling

Bathrooms serve numerous purposes. From just utilizing the toilet, to fixing your make-up; you and your guests are likely to go to this area on several occasions in an evening. Nevertheless, not all bathrooms are created equal. You would not design a bathroom near the workshop the same as the one that’s next to the primary entertaining room or even the bathroom that is attached to the master bedroom.

It’s important to consider the primary objective of each bathroom when it’s time to remodel. Here are a few examples of some bathrooms and how they’ll impact your options.

The Workroom Bathroom-Often found next to garages, or at the back entrance of a home. It is utilitarian. This is where everyone that is covered in dirt and grease is funneled in order to keep the rest of the house clean. This is not a place for knick-knacks or decorations. In this bathroom, our main concern is functionality and cleaning. You should select cabinets that are either very easy to clean, or even better, removable. The floors and walls should be smooth and free of obstacles so that it is easy to wipe them down. This does not mean they cannot be inviting and attractive. The selection of a wipeable paint in a nice bright color, the installation of bright lighting, and the selection of attractive toilets and sinks can leave this room quite appealing, yet easy to maintain.

The Guest Bathroom-This is usually found adjacent to the main entertaining areas. This is the one that most of your guests will visit. In this room, we are concerned with comfort and ambiance. A little reflected lighting, a few decorations to catch their attention, and fixtures that are easy to use and clean are great choices. It is also important to have cabinets that will discretely hold necessary items, while making them easily accessible to your guests. A nice large mirror with direct lighting may be an asset to guests who wish to fix their makeup or quickly clean up a small stain.

The Private Bathroom-These are situated away from regular entertaining…maybe attached to the master bedroom or on a hallway leading to other bedrooms. These rooms have extra requirements. These ought to be simple to clean, but may also be adorned with niceties like heated towel racks, decorative medicine cabinets, and storage of towels, linens and supplies. In case you like to unwind in a nice hot bath for a while, then integrated speakers or even a television could be a good addition.

With all the uses and possibilities to consider when remodeling a bathroom, it just makes sense to partner up with a professional cabinet maker. They have access to countless examples of drawers, cabinets, and accessories for you to consider.

August 29, 2010 By: Melissa Horn Category: Kitchen Remodeling

Towels are an essential part of any kitchen these days but they need to be kept in a place where they can remain clean and dry. The best place for your towels is a towel bar installed in your modern kitchen, where wet towels can hang.

Now, there are a few things to consider when installing the kitchen towel bar. First, you want to make sure the bar is going to be sturdy enough to hold the weight of wet towels.

Out of the other few things to consider when installing for bar, design is another. They come in different designs, but you want to make sure the current decor of your kitchen isn’t compromised.

There are the single metal pipe and fasteners which are quite simple. Then there are also ceramic bars which give you kitchen a more sophisticated look.

If you kitchen walls are plastered, then it may be a little more difficult to find a place in your kitchen for the bars.

It would be harder to install the bars on a plastered wall without causing too much damage to the wall. Another factor would be to install the bars in an accessible area in the kitchen.

Make sure to insist on quality when choosing a towel bar for your kitchen. The piece should also be versatile so that is goes with the decor of your kitchen and at the same time maintaining its functionality.

With all of this in mind, you may want to go with the ceramic bars. They are a lot easier to clean and keep up, they are provided in different shapes and sizes. Most importantly they are highly durable, so these aspects would be the reason why ceramic bars would be a benefit to you and your kitchen.
